A
Sea Of Green
Since its start in 1999, Rolling
Thunder’s green uniforms have become
a familiar sight on Long Island’s competitive running circuit. Our athletes
always place and often win these races. What is remarkable is that Rolling
Thunder athletes are challenged individuals successfully competing in mainstream
events.
Discovering Special Abilities
Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program is a non-profit organization dedicated
to providing challenged individuals with the opportunity to successfully
participate in all levels of mainstream athletics. Rolling Thunder is open
to developmentally and/or physically challenged individuals, age 5 or older,
regardless of disability. Our team is also open to siblings and other family
members, and to any members of the community willing to volunteer their time
and effort.
World Class Training
Rolling Thunder’s all-volunteer staff includes professional athletic
trainers, health care providers, special educators, and interested members
of the community, who contribute their unique talents to assist in the team’s
training.
For over a decade,
Rolling Thunder has maintained a high standing in the
athletic community of Long Island, as well as nationally.
Our program provides training, discipline and structure
in a supportive and competitive atmosphere. We are
proud members of Long Island Track and Field as well
as their parent club, United States Track and Field.
Our Team’s mission statement is “Independence,
Inclusion and Choice". |
