{ MEMBERS ONLY }
Joining Rolling Thunder
Athletes and their siblings wishing to join Rolling
Thunder must complete and sign the Athlete’s
Sports Registration and Release Forms which can
be found in the resources section. All applicants
under 18 years of age must have the form signed
by their parent(s) or legal guardian.
In addition to the application form, all athletes
and their participating siblings must provide a properly
completed and up to date Sports Physical & Medical
Release Form on a yearly basis in order to be allowed
to take part in practices or races.
How Much Does It Cost?
Athlete and sibling participation in our program is
free of charge, and includes training, uniform, racing
wheelchairs (if needed), race entries, and most travel
and accommodations costs. Athletic shoes, training
clothes and sports undergarments are not provided
by Rolling Thunder. However, we have teamed up with
local running stores that give generous discounts
to our members.
Becoming a Volunteer
Rolling Thunder operates on a strictly volunteer basis.
Our staff is made up of concerned family members
and community volunteers that donate their time and/or
expertise in benefit of our Team. Our organization
grows with the constructive involvement of its members.
Although not required, it is expected that parents
and guardians donate their time in a Team activity
of their choice.
Coaches, guides and team volunteers wishing to join
our Team must complete and sign the Coach/Volunteer
Sports Registration and Release Form. All volunteers
are required to purchase uniforms and team apparel
at cost, may be required to join and maintain membership
in USATF-LI, and undergo background checks at their
expense. Whenever possible the team may provide coaches
with complimentary CPR and First Aid training, as well
as with entries to race events.
